Discovery

We have almost come to the end of our first week here at Quiet Waters.  For those that are interested, the retreat home at which we are staying is located in the city of Parker, CO.  Parker is located southeast of Denver.  We have been meeting with our counselor every morning from 9 AM until noon and then working on some relational homework in the afternoon and evening along with just some devotional/God connect time.  It has been inciteful to take a look at the patterns in my life which have led to some of the burn out I have experienced.   Our counselor is Hud Mc Williams.  One of the books he has assigned for me to read is a book written by Wayne Corderro entitled Leading on Empty: Refilling Your Tank and Renewing Your Passion.  In the book the author shares much of his own experience of burn out and his fight to return to a state of good emotional health and effective ministry.  I have plans to read through the book and then go back and begin to work through the exercises he suggests.

We are also working on some relational skills which will lead to a stronger marriage.  We will in essence have the week end off before beginning again on Monday.

Just to show what a small world we live in our host couple at the retreat home is a couple with the first names of Duane and Violet.  They have lived in the Denver area for a long time and attend one of the Christian Reformed Churches in town.  Duane's brother lives in Demotte, just north of town.  I can't pronounce his last name, which also makes it hard to try and spell to include in this writing. They have been wonderful.

Bekkah and Vanessa arrived safely at their sister's home in New Mexico on Wednesday about 1:30 PM after driving a little over 1300 miles.  They left Demotte on Monday moring. Bekkah is finishing up her school work.  Vanessa and Bekkah are enjoying their time with Melissa, Jason, and JJ, Kayla, and Maya.

We express our sympathy to Jerry and Jim Tanis and their family in their loss of Hank and to Nancy Bovenkirk in Anna Mae's passing.  May God Bless and Keep them all in His large and tender hands.
